  • 12 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • ½ cup crushed sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 2½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1¾ cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup dark chocolate pieces


  1. Heat up oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a small pan set over average heat, add 8 tbsp. of butter. Heat up until the butter bubbles then gets brown and become freckled (about 3-5 minutes). Take away from the heat and empty it into an average size bowl together with the remaining butter. Mix it up until all the butter melts. Add sugar, egg yolk, egg and vanilla. Whip the mixture for 30 seconds, then leave it to rest for 30 seconds. Do it three times.
  3. In a small bowl beat together the flour, baking soda and salt. Using a wooden spoon, mix up the dry materials. Add the chocolate chunks and chocolate chips, and then empty this into a big frying pan with 10-12 inch, making an even layer.
  4. Put in oven and heat it until the middle is set, about 20-25 minutes. Remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting and serving.
